POSITIONING FOR A CHANGING MARKET

Systematiq has announced a major structural change and strategic reset to support long-term growth and stronger client outcomes in an increasingly complex Defence environment.

As the Defence environment shifts from standalone platforms to integrated capability ecosystems, original equipment manufacturers and specialist SMEs are seeking practical partners who can help deliver readiness at pace. Many organisations face challenges transitioning capability from acquisition into operational service.

Systematiq’s new direction is designed to meet that need.

Systematiq is evolving to support Defence and industry partners in delivering capability into service, with a stronger focus on readiness, integration and operational outcomes.

The shift reflects the growing complexity of Defence programs, where success depends not just on acquisition, but on mobilising, integrating and sustaining capability effectively.

The new structure reflects the maturity Systematiq has built in recent years and aligns leadership, market focus, and delivery capability to support a stronger platform for scale, consistency and sustainable growth.

A STRATEGY BUILT FOR SCALE

At the centre of this evolution is a three-horizon strategy that balances stability, expansion and innovation. Horizon 1 is focused on protecting and strengthening the core business, with General Manager Sarah Norton accountable for driving profitable growth, operational performance and alignment across business development, delivery and corporate services. This ensures the business can scale in a disciplined and consistent way.

This gives Managing Director Brydon Johnson greater capacity to focus on Horizons 2 and 3, where the business is nurturing emerging opportunities and building new pathways for growth.

The strategy is underpinned by a new project-led delivery model, shifting the business from a capability-led structure to one better suited to integrated project outcomes. The change is designed to improve agility, strengthen accountability and deepen client partnerships by bringing together Systematiq’s core capabilities of project management, precontracts support, systems engineering, Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) and training systems across the program lifecycle.

For clients, this means more targeted support and a more responsive delivery partner. For Systematiq, it creates a stronger foundation for growth, clearer career pathways and sharper market differentiation.

A LEADERSHIP TEAM FOR THE NEXT PHASE

As part of the change, Systematiq has introduced a refreshed Executive Leadership Team to support the next phase of delivery and growth. Rhiannon Stratford has been appointed Head of Project Delivery, responsible for integrating and delivering precontracts services, ILS, engineering, training, and PMO for clients. With more than 20 years of experience across infrastructure, transport and Defence, Rhiannon brings deep expertise in systems engineering, design engineering and project leadership, along with a strong track record in complex, technically demanding environments.

“I’m excited to continue building and strengthening our already excellent project capabilities, allowing us to take on more projects with greater complexity,” said Rhiannon Stratford, Head of Project Delivery.

“This structural change increases our ability to support clients in the project space and positions Systematiq as the partner of choice when organisations need integrated teams across a range of defence project delivery capabilities.”

Steve Mackey has been appointed Head of Service Delivery, where he will oversee the delivery of long-term project services with a focus on quality, consistency and client outcomes. With more than 25 years of experience, Steve brings extensive expertise in instructional design, training delivery, evaluation and facilitation, supported by a strong background in project management and leading multidisciplinary teams. Since joining Systematiq in 2022, he has supported a range of Australian Defence Force initiatives, including training modernisation, assurance, evaluation and delivery.

Steve is looking forward to the opportunity to bring Systematiq’s service delivery capabilities together in a way that is more consistent, scalable and closely aligned to what our clients need most. “This structure gives us a stronger platform to deliver high-quality outcomes and build even deeper trust with clients as their delivery partner.”

“This change supports future growth by creating clearer accountability both internally and externally, positioning Systematiq to scale with discipline while maintaining the quality and expertise our clients expect.”

Together, these changes mark an exciting next step for Systematiq as we continue Moving our Clients Forward through trusted partnerships, integrated expertise and a shared commitment to delivering meaningful outcomes.
