Insitu Pacific contracted Tasmania-based Jayben Group to manufacture and deliver integrated launch and recovery hardware as part of their contract o supply Tactical Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) to the Australian Army for LAND 129 Phase 3.
Jayben Group specialise in power train products and light to medium industrial plant and equipment, including R&D, engineering, manufacture, domestic and international distribution.
THE CUSTOMER’S CHALLENGE
Systematiq was contracted to assist Jayben Group (Jayben) with their delivery to Insitu as the Prime Contractor, of Launch and Recovery Equipment (LRE) trailers, as part of the LAND129 Phase 3 program. Jayben was unfamiliar with Defence requirements and contracts and required the assistance of Systematiq to navigate the intricacies of the ASDEFCON suite of contractual documentation.
SOLUTION
While Systematiq were initially contracted by Jayben to provide systems engineering support across the LRE verification program, the role of Systematiq quickly evolved to also providing Corporate Governance assistance in areas of compliance, scheduling, documentation of requirements and configuration management.
This integrated support gave Jayben greater confidence and control over project delivery, reducing compliance risk and improving visibility of requirements, schedules and documentation. It also enabled Jayben’s team to focus on manufacturing and delivery while building the systems, processes and capability needed to manage future Defence projects more effectively.
IMPLEMENTATION
Systematiq mobilised a team of consultants to support Jayben in delivering their documentation and requirements. This included:
- Ensured adherence to Australian Standard for Defence Contracting (ASDEFCON).
- Created procedures for delivering quarterly reports.
- Developed risk management processes using risk logs and assessments.
- Assisted in re-baselining project schedules and setting performance targets.
- Maintained contract documentation compliant with Defence requirements.
- Established configuration management processes with Jayben tools.
- Wrote verification procedures for safety and Commonwealth compliance.
- Streamlined procurement to address long lead times.
- Set up audit programs to ensure compliance with project procedures.
RESULT
The processes and procedures that Systematiq developed supported Jayben in meeting the compliance and governance requirements of a Defence project. They have equipped Jayben with the skills and tools necessary to successfully execute and manage the LRE project, as well as any future Defence projects, under the complexities of the ASDEFCON framework.
